South East & Central Northumberland Dementia Action Alliance

The South East & Central Northumberland Dementia (formally the Ashington Dementia Action Alliance) was formed to improve the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.  Members are from a variety of sectors with an established alliance steering group in place to drive the alliance forward.  By delivering on action plans and working together our aim is to make South East & Central Northumberland and surrounding villages more dementia friendly.

Objectives:

•To improve the lives of people with dementia and their carers in the South East & Central Northumberland area by developing greater awareness and understanding of dementia and the issues in our community

•To identity key organisations including businesses, voluntary, community, private sector and education within South East & Central Northumberland and and surrounding areas with a common interest

•To secure commitment from these organisations to support the Alliance

•To establish an Alliance Steering Group to oversee and ensure continued development of action plans

•To ensure that the voice of those living with dementia are included, valued and heard, and guide the South East & Central Northumberland Alliance work.

•To create a monitoring framework to track progress of the alliance

•To share information and best practice amongst members

•To develop Ashington as a Dementia Friendly Community for people living with dementia, their carers and families, voluntary and statutory services, businesses and the wider community
