Hillingdon Dementia Action Alliance

Hillingdon Council and the Hillingdon Alzheimer's Society have come together to set up a local Dementia Action Alliance.   The aim is to create a dementia-friendly community in Hillingdon, where there is a greater awareness and understanding of dementia.  We want individuals with dementia, and their carers, to feel supported to remain independent and have choice and control over their lives.

It is estimated that there are more than 2,500 people currently living with dementia in Hillingdon – more than 1% of the adult population. The number of people living with dementia in Hillingdon is expected to increase by 15.6% between now and 2021 – nearly double the growth rate of the overall population.  Due to this, it is essential that we all work together to make our community a welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia.

We would like to invite organisations, businesses and communities in Hillingdon to join the Hillingdon Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) and help to make our borough dementia friendly.

We aim to achieve this by ensuring that:

  • people with dementia have a voice
  • we continue to raise awareness of dementia to residents
  • our staff are trained to understand the needs of people living with dementia and how to support them
  • our local environments are dementia friendly

To join the Hillingdon DAA, please complete the Dementia Action Alliance Action Plan and email to linda.matthews@alzheimers.org.uk

We hold quarterly meetings and everyone is welcome to attend and take part.  To find out more, please visit the Hillingdon web page.
