Actions have been taken in Newbury across a range of areas:

Readibus offer transport options to the Alzheimer’s Society and YPWD Charity Newbury to assist in getting people to the local services that they run.

Coin recognition chart and the ‘communication tips for families and carers of people with dementia in West Berkshire’ card is now being distributed by the Beechcroft Memory Clinic.

With its reopening the Newbury Museum are now looking to deliver reminiscence sessions for the public using their collection of memorabilia.

There is currently ongoing work on an initiative to provide a “Men’s Group” delivering a local social/service group for men with dementia. This is being discussed as a joint initiative between Young People with Dementia (YPWD), the Beechcroft Memory Clinic and the Alzheimer’s Society.

As part of their action plan Newbury College are investigating extending their range of activities and courses for people with dementia who make use of college facilities during the school holidays.
