Preston City Council has committed resources to support regular Dementia Friends Sessions throughout Preston. Sessions have been delivered within a number of community settings including within rural areas utilising the Council’s Citizenzone vehicle to address issues related to social isolation.

Sessions have been provided for particular communities at risk of being impacted by dementia, including for example: BME community groups through luncheon clubs and social clubs: Women through Preston’s Women’s Network, and also in areas affected by high levels of deprivation through local community groups.

The Sessions are regarded as successfully providing a platform to raise public awareness of dementia and also overcome stigma.
