A Dementia Friendly Communities Consultation is underway in Gateshead.

A questionnaire has been designed and circulated throughout Gateshead’s Dementia Action Alliance and sent out to Gateshead residents in receipt of services.  It is also available on the Council consultation portal.

A number of consultation events have been set up, and actors through Equal Arts will be delivering these sessions to assist in communicating with people with dementia, in order to get the best out of the sessions.

The results of the consultation will be used to ensure that each Dementia Friendly Community that we create, as part of the Alzheimer’s Society accreditation programme, is tailored to the needs of people with dementia in that area.
