1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We already help those living with dementia to access appropriate legal services while they are still able and to assist their carers and families when they are no longer able to make decisions for themselves. We are aiming to ensure that we are delivering our services in the best way possible for clients with dementia and their families; in particular  include those with dementia in the decision making process in a sensitive and positive manner.  We are experienced in obtaining capacity tests from medical professionals to either enable the client to continue with the legal process themselves or to enable carers to act on their behalf (deputyship proceedings).

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Ensuring that all client facing staff have an awareness of all relevant issues - we are applying for Dementia Friends Awareness via the Alzheimer's Society.
