1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We can support people of faith to practice that faith in a safe and caring environment.  We can welcome and encourage people of no faith to take part in and belong to our  various social groups/activities, which maintain physical and mental well-being.

We plan to encourage other churches to use our model to create dementia friendly churches across Derbyshire.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Our church members, volunteers and staff need a better understanding of how dementia affects people – both those with the disease and their carers.

Our premises appear to be dementia friendly but this needs testing.

We currently have no dementia friendly services either on Sundays or any other day – clergy or lay preachers need to be identified to conduct.
