1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

By having the monthly Dementia Friendly session every month it allows both the person living with dementia and their carer the chance to meet and make new friends, join in the activities on offer with all the others in the group, have fun, sit down and enjoy lunch together and listen to what others have to say.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We need to make the sessions enjoyable, interesting and fun, so the challenge here would be to interact with group members to find out what they really want out of the session.

  • To improve our understanding of Dementia

Arrange for the volunteer and other members of staff to attend a Dementia Friends information session to help them understand more about the condition or get them to complete the online help and understanding in Dementia.

  • Raise Awareness in the Community

Display in our organisation leaflets on awareness of dementia so that people and customers who use our service can see them and pick them up. Obtain the leaflets from the dementia team and keep them on display at all times.
