1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We encourage the organisations we work with to engage with Dementia Friends. This has included care homes, social enterprises, GPs and charities. In our role as consultants we are able to remind people of the importance of engaging with people with dementia and ensuring their staff are open aware and received some training. At a local level, both Directors maintain a high level of awareness of the issue, both from a professional and personal perspective.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

As consultants we can pass on positive dementia type messages related to the work we are contracted to do, but we do not necessarily see the results that take place after we have left. There is a risk that some actions are not implemented.
