1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Our staff have all listened to a talk from a Dementia Friend to increase their awareness of issues relating to dementia. In addition they are encouraged to attend further training to ensure they have a good level of knowledge and to ensure that they treat people with dementia and their carers with respect. As an infrastructure organisation we have access to information about a wide range of services and support groups within the voluntary and community sector, and are able to signpost anyone with dementia or their carers to appropriate information or support. We have close links with statutory organisations including the CCG and so are able to represent to views of groups working with people with dementia to key organisations and decision makers.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

In order to provide comprehensive advice and information, including signposting to other organisations in the voluntary and community sector, we need to keep abreast of the changes within the voluntary and community sector, both in terms of groups in existence, and the services they provide. With current uncertainties over funding, this continues to be ever shifting sands.
