Local alliance information

The Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Dementia Action Alliance is made up of organisations that operate across the area working together to make Shropshire Telford & Wrekin dementia friendly.

A steering group meets bimonthly alternating between venues in Shropshire and venues in Telford & Wrekin. Any member of our local alliance is welcome to attend these meetings, as are people affected by dementia.  For forthcoming dates for steering group meetings please contact shropshire@alzheimers.org.uk

How to join the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin DAA

To become a member of this Local Dementia Action Alliance, organisations sign up to the National Dementia Declaration and submit a short action plan setting out how they will work towards becoming more dementia friendly. Once this has been submitted successfully, the organisation will be considered a member of the Dementia Action Alliance.

Resources such as the National Dementia Declaration and action plan template can be downloaded here, and organisations should use the contact details below to seek guidance or assistance.

Completed action plans should be sent to the relevant contact below.

Dementia friendly communities recognition

Through the local DAA, Shropshire Telford & Wrekin has been recognised as working towards becoming a Dementia Friendly Community. Small organisations and businesses can sign up as supporters of the Shropshire Telford & Wrekin DAA.

Supporters commit to all staff and/or volunteers becoming Dementia Friends, awareness of where to signpost people for questions about dementia and local support, and to doing a least one other small action. We welcome the following supporters:
